I'm not sure when I will have internet access after I leave. I know I have wireless once I am in Cairo, but I'm not arriving there until the 4th, and by the time I get there I will probably just sleep. In the mean time though here are two pictures I can leave for your viewing pleasure. One is of the lab I will be working in. I do not actually get to excavate or dig this time around, the area that is my research focus has already been excavated. Instead I am identifying the material from there and then deducing the subsistence activity of the area as it compares to others within the pyramid complex. Next year I will return to Egypt for about 2-6 months (most likely depending on funding) and will apprentice under the British excavators. But being an onhand fauna analyst is still pretty cool :)
The lab looks a little run down...apparently there was some indecision over whether or not to tear it down and rebuild it...after they decided to go ahead and do that they changed their minds. No worries though...I know everyone is jealous that I am spending the first weeks of my summer in a mudbrick lab in the middle of the desert.
The next picture is the villa where I will be staying down in Cairo. This villa is used in our off season to film Egyptian Soap Operas...so yeah...I will be sleeping where a plethora of steaming love scenes have taken place.
Only a few more days left in the states!
